Some Fashions To Love For Fall 2006
September 25, 2006
Check out our new online store at wwwdotpriscillasclosetdotnet for the best deals on great new fall things. We have free shipping on this site for the time being and if it works well for us, we'll keep to that policy. From chunky knit sweaters over delicate dresses and fine-gauge sweater knit skirt suits, woven fabrics (like denim or twill) made way for sweater knits. Some of the best fall looks came in the form of draped and oversized knits. Ivory, gray and black were really important for their go-with-everything properties along with the pretty soft pastels that added a nice punch to black, burgundy and cognac velvets. Menswear prints -- houndstooth, plaids, checks, pinstripes -- are always favorites for fall, but this season designers combined oversized patterns, and even mixed prints in new interesting ways. If you want to wear this look, you could concentrate on wearing one bold menswear pattern (even in small doses like a hat or scarf it makes a statement). Experiment with soft pieces like the draped skirt in menswear patterns, as opposed to the tailored pieces it often comes in. The hottest suit on the runway was the pantsuit, long a staple of working women everywhere. Ralph Lauren's sharply tailored haberdashery pantsuits were fabulous (as were his loden jacket paired with matching leggings -- the new sharpest of the new suits!) I always loved this look for all ages--the kids can wear solid tights and micro skirts with long bulky sweaters and even longer scarves. The rest of us can always work up a combination of some but not all of these elements.
